Newt followed as he said to "catch all the points that had been left out," but said he felt like "a d n fool, but said hewould make the sweep just the same.' So he prfH-eeded with "dangerous talk" and horrid looks for some time and closed with an exhortation to the color ed people not to be bought over, but to stand to the party thac freed them. It does seem that the opposi tion rely almost solely on a campaign of misrepresentations, and such eon- duct on their part is a direct insult to the intelligence of our people which we trust wi'l meet with deserved rebuke on election day. We are glad to note that much inter st is being taken in the matter of reg istration. Now let us get every man out to the polls, and "our two Crawfords" will win. Advices from all over the State indicate that the people are aroused, and we can not afford to have McDowell a laggard in this race. So let us go to work, sink all personal ani mosities, vote the straight ticket, leav ing independents severely alone, and with united effort endeavor to keep our grand old county in the glorious ranks of Democracj. We are informed that malicious poli ticians of the fusion stripe continue to repeat the lie that Lee Crawford has nailed again and again in regard to the Fcr.ce Law.
